LGBT Elders Gain Attention
November 4, 2009

The Administration on Aging (AoA) will award a grant of $250,000 per year to establish the nation’s first national resource center to assist communities in serving older lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals.

Meanwhile, the National Senior Citizens Law Center and several groups representing LGBT individuals are working to raise awareness of this population. They are conducting an online survey of LGBT older adults who live in long-term care facilities, as well as their caregivers, families, friends, and social workers.
