2 min read
NCOA is issuing a request for proposal (RFP) to qualified public or private non-profit 501(c)(3) agencies interested in operating the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) in 14 counties in Tennessee.
Through this process, NCOA will award a subgrant estimated at $1,455,964 to a qualified agency to provide part-time community service employment/subsidized work experience opportunities to unemployed, low-income residents 55 and older. The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) awards funds on a per authorized participant basis and funds at the county level. At this time, the expected authorized position level is 156 participants.
What is the timeline of the grant award?
The initial subgrant award is for one year starting July 1, 2023 and ending on June 30, 2024. If NCOA is successful in the next national SCSEP competition and continues to operate in the same Tennessee counties, the subgrant is renewable for potentially up to five years.
NCOA will offer subsequent annual subgrants as long as the program continues or until the next competition scheduled in five years, contingent on each subgrant organization’s success in meeting all financial, operational and performance goals, and the availability of federally appropriated funds. Title V of the Older Americans Act authorizes SCSEP.
