Watch the recap of the March 26, 2020 installment of the National Coalition on Mental Health and Aging's (NCMHA) Webinar Series: Traumatic Brain Injury and Mental Illness Among Older Adults: The Problem and New Management Approaches. Following the National Older Adult Mental Health Awareness Day (OAMHD) events, NCMHA developed a plan to collaborate with interested government agencies, private sector groups, and experts to maintain the momentum and recommendations generated from OAMHD.

Each year, an estimated 40 million older Americans (age 65+) experience a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Older adults who suffer from a TBI are at an increased risk for developing mental health disorders, such as major depression and panic disorder.

This March 26 webinar explores how TBIs impact older adults and the process of aging, and how to treat consequential mental health disorders. The presenter also shares new clinical and geriatric approaches to evaluating TBI.
