August 6, 2024, Arlington, VA—Ramsey Alwin, President and CEO of the National Council on Aging (NCOA), has been named by The NonProfit Times as one of the "2024 Power and Influence Top 50.” The publication’s editors chose Alwin for “putting aging issues in the spotlight” and for “seeking to make aging well a human right.”

“I am honored for this recognition, and I hope more people will be inspired to take action to reduce our deep disparities in aging,” said Alwin.

“This year is the first of several when 11,000 people turn 65 every day, so we need to ensure everyone can age with dignity.”

Alwin served as Vice President of Economic Security at NCOA before directing financial resilience global thought leadership at AARP. Since rejoining NCOA as President and CEO in 2020, Alwin has changed the way people think about older adult poverty. She is frequently quoted in such media outlets as Wall Street Journal, New York Times, MarketWatch, USA Today, and CNN.com.

Since returning to NCOA, Alwin has focused on improving the lives of nearly 30 million older adults, with the goal to reach 40 million by 2030. This includes helping people reduce their expenses or increasing their incomes, completing programs proven to improve health, and benefiting from policy changes driven by NCOA.

Phil Buchanan, President of the Center for Effective Philanthropy and member of the NCOA Board of Directors, is named to this year’s top 50 as well.
