Carlie Rhoads, PhD, is in charge of data and evaluation at the National Center on Deafblindness, which is a national technical assistance center that works with state deafblind projects and other partners to support both education and quality of life for children who are deafblind and their families. She also is a co-chair for the Aging and Vision Loss National Coalition (AVLNC) that addresses critical issues impacting older adults with blindness and low vision. She has a doctoral degree from Vanderbilt University in visual disabilities and was a National Leadership Consortium on Sensory Disabilities scholar. Rhoads has over a decade of experience working with children with sensory impairments, has worked as both a special educator and teacher of students with visual impairments, and previously served as the director of the Oregon Deafblind Project. She also has a sibling who is low vision and has other disabilities.
