Donor Privacy Policy

NCOA is committed to respecting the privacy of donors. Read our privacy policy that ensures donor information will not be shared with any third party.
NCOA is committed to respecting the privacy of donors. This privacy policy ensures donors that their information will not be shared with any third party.

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) has developed this privacy policy to ensure our donors that donor information will not be shared with any third party. NCOA provides this Donor Privacy Policy to make you aware of our privacy policy, and to inform you of the way your information is used. We also provide you with the opportunity to remove your name from our mailing list, if you desire to do so. This policy applies to donors who donate online as well as through the mail.

Information Collected

To process donations, NCOA collects the following types of donor information:

  • Contact information: Name, physical address, and email address
  • Payment information: Type and amount of donation, credit card number and expiration date, billing contact physical address and email
  • Tribute information: Name, physical address, and email address of donations made in tribute to another person

How Information Is Used

NCOA uses your information to understand your needs and provide you with better service. Specifically, we use your information to help you complete a transaction, communicate back to you, and update you on how your donation is being used. Credit card numbers are used only for donation processing through an encrypted, secure, third party processing system, and are not retained for other purposes. We use tribute information that you provide to send a notification of your donation to the individuals you select.

No Sharing of Personal Information

NCOA will not sell, rent, lease, or otherwise share your personal information to other organizations. We assure you that the identity of all our donors will be kept confidential. Use of donor information will be limited to the internal purposes of NCOA and only to further the work of NCOA.

No Storage of Credit Card Information

NCOA uses a certified, Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant system called “Stripe” to process payments, and we do not store or keep any credit card numbers. All card numbers are encrypted on disk and the decryption keys are stored on separate machines. Stripe’s infrastructure for storing, decrypting, and transmitting card numbers runs in separate hosting infrastructure, and does not share any credentials with Stripe’s primary services.

Removing Your Name from Our Mailing List
