About NCOA

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) is the national voice for every person’s right to age well. We believe that how we age should not be determined by gender, color, sexuality, income, or ZIP code. Working with thousands of national and local partners, we provide resources, tools, best practices, and advocacy to ensure every person can age with health and financial security.

Who We Are

70+ Years in the Making

We've worked since 1950 to improve the lives of older adults. We were the first national organization focused on older adults, formed in response to rising health costs and mandatory retirement.
Ollie Randall, an NCOA founder and leader in the field of aging, is holding an award for her singular and outstanding contributions toward advancing the cause of aging.

The Impact We've Made

Our strategy is simple: keep ourselves accountable by measuring our impact; advance proven solutions that impact the lives of older adults; and scale our work through critical legislative measures, partnering with organizations that share our mission.
The Highlands Ranch Senior Center is set to open in 2024, and stakeholders are continuing to learn valuable lessons on how to best serve the community's older adults.

Why Equity Matters

The road older adults travel cannot be wrought with bias, stigma, and seeing us as “less than.” After a lifetime of working hard, raising the next generation, and contributing to our economy and community, we owe it to ourselves to ensure every older adult has the opportunity to age well.

Our Roadmap to Equitable Aging

NCOA’s Public Policy Positions are grounded in the belief that on-the-ground service informs advocacy. They amplify the voices of those who are often invisible and unheard.
A large, diverse group of people is gathered on the steps of the Capitol building, all wearing matching teal shirts with the slogan "Aging Well is my RIGHT." They are part of the Age+Action 2024 Conference Hill Day event organized by NCOA. The participants are smiling, cheering, and raising their hands in solidarity, holding a banner that reads "Aging Well for All." The Capitol dome is prominently visible in the background, signifying the advocacy and unity of the group in promoting the rights and well-being of older adults.

Working Transparently and Effectively

NCOA partners with nonprofit organizations, government, and business to provide innovative community programs and services, online help, and advocacy. We provide a yearly update on the organization's mission, governance, management, and programs.
