Advocate for All to Age Well

Use NCOA's Action Center to add your voice to protect and strengthen the policies and programs we all depend on as we age. Below you'll find federal aging services legislation impacting older adults and the communities they live in. Speak out on the issues you care about.
A large, diverse group of people is gathered on the steps of the Capitol building, all wearing matching teal shirts with the slogan "Aging Well is my RIGHT." They are part of the Age+Action 2024 Conference Hill Day event organized by NCOA. The participants are smiling, cheering, and raising their hands in solidarity, holding a banner that reads "Aging Well for All." The Capitol dome is prominently visible in the background, signifying the advocacy and unity of the group in promoting the rights and well-being of older adults.

Protecting Aging Services through the Older Americans Act

Signed into law in 1965, the Older Americans Act (OAA) is a keystone of federal aging policy. It powers nutrition programs, elder rights protections, senior center programs, caregiver support, and more. Ask your members of Congress to reauthorize the OAA so services can continue uninterrupted.

Help Keep Medicare Affordable

No one should skip a doctor’s visit or dose of medicine due to cost. Ask your members of Congress to continue the bipartisan support of a program that connects low-income older adults with programs to help them afford Medicare costs.

Help Make Obesity Care Affordable for All

Obesity is a serious chronic condition that impacts 41.5% of adults ages 60+. Yet Medicare doesn’t cover all obesity treatments, making quality care unaffordable for older adults. Congress is considering the bipartisan Treat and Reduce Obesity Act to change this. Urge your lawmakers to pass the bill.

Protect Jobs and Training for Older Adults

Many older adults are looking for work. They face financial hardship, want to learn new skills, or hope to contribute to their community, but face obstacles to employment. The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is the only federal program offering solutions to these problems. It's time for Congress to protect and support SCSEP.

Protect Food Assistance for Older Americans

For decades, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has proven to be an effective tool for fighting hunger and poverty, especially among older adults. At a time when millions of Americans are struggling to make ends meet, there are proposals in Congress, such as the Senior Hunger Prevention Act, that would strengthen this critical program. Help us protect (and improve) this much-needed food assistance program for vulnerable older adults.

Advocate for the Protect Older Job Applications Act (POJA) and the Protecting Older Workers Against Discrimination Act (POWADA)

Age discrimination presents a unique obstacle for older adults. Help support two bills that could restore the original intent of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. Your support can stop age discrimination for older American workers.
